Platform jackets for the £4.5billion West of Shetland Clair Ridge development have been installed.
The two jackets, which will be bridge-linked, were installed using Heerema Marine Contractor’s heavy lift vessel Thialf 75km west of the Shetland Islands.
The topsides of the development are due to be installed in 2015, with production in late 2016.
Clair Ridge development will have the capability to produce an estimated 640MM bo over 40 years, with peak production of 120,000 bo/d.
BP says Clair Ridge is the first, sanctioned, large-scale offshore enhanced oil recovery (EOR) scheme using reduced salinity water injection (LoSal EOR) to extract a higher proportion of oil over the life of the field.
To reduce the environmental impact of the project, the platforms will be powered using dual-fuel power generators, incorporating waste heat recovery technology. Vapour recovery will also be used to capture and recycle low pressure gas for use as fuel or for exporting to shore.
BP is operator with partner ConocoPhillips, Chevron and Shell.
