Ocean Valiant arrives in Las Palmas

Fairmount Marine’s tug Fairmount Summit has delivered the semisubmersible rig Ocean Valiant safely in the port of Las Palmas, Canary Islands.

Fairmount Summit towed the rig from offshore Cameroon over a distance of almost 3000 miles.

The Ocean Valiant is owned by Diamond ƶijϻ Drilling Inc., headquartered in Houston, USA. The 1988-built rig is 122m-long, 71m-wide and 37m-high, able to drill up to 10,000m deep and can accommodate 140 persons.

After connecting to the tow bridle and before departure Fairmount Summit performed heading control to the rig while the rig was retrieving her remaining four anchors.
