Saipem opens Edmonton yard

Saipem has opened its new Edmonton indoor fabrication yard in Alberta, Canada.

The new facility will allow Saipem to accelerate project delivery by maintaining workforce activity and a safe working environment during bad weather.

The yard is northeast of Edmonton, and includes about 20,000sq m of covered facilities able to carry out prefabrication of plant components and pipes, and the assembly of modules for projects in the oil and gas market, including liquefied natural gas and power generation.

“Opening this fabrication yard is another and very important step forward in improving our ability to control the costs, quality and schedule of the projects we execute. It also proves Saipem’s sustainable and long term commitment to Alberta and to Canada,” said Mr. Umberto Vergine, Saipem’s Chief Executive Officer. “Saipem is committed to offer to our clients in Canada a reliable business model for the projects execution and this yard will make it even stronger. Over the past seven years we have grown to more than 1,600 employees. Our project execution center in Calgary provides engineering, procurement, project management and construction services for some of the largest and most complex projects in Canada. Today we are one of the province’s largest EPC contractors.”
