Tullow spuds Lupus

Exploration drilling started on the Lupus oil prospect in production license 507 in the Norwegian sector of the North Sea yesterday.

The well, 31/10-1, is about 35km south of the Oseberg field and is being drilled by the Borgland Dolphin semisubmersible drilling rig (pictured).

Partners in the license are Tullow Oil Norge (operator with 60% interest), Explora Petroleum (20%), Ithaca Petroleum Norge (10%) and North Energy (10%).

North Energy signed a purchase and sale agreement on 26 June with Tullow Oil Norge covering the purchase of a 10% holding in PL 507. This deal is awaiting government approval.

In a trading update, Tullow added that, in West Africa, Jubilee field gross production averaged about 100,000 bopd for 1H 2014. This level is expected to be maintained for the full year.

Tullow said the deepwater TEN project in Ghana is progressing well and is on track for first oil in mid-2016.

The process for reducing Tullow’s stake and capital commitments in the TEN Project in Ghana is ongoing.

In Norway, results from the Hanssen well are expected shortly.

In Gabon, results from the onshore Igongo well are expected in the next few weeks and the high impact pre-salt Sputnik-1 offshore exploration well is expected to spud in late July/early August 2014.
