My Childfree Wife Brought Her Twin, so I Left

When my child-free wife brought home her twin, I left without a trace.

Since my wife insisted on not having a child so on our wedding day, I chose to get a vasectomy.

However, twenty years later, the shares rights agreement of the Wilson Corporation bore the names of a pair of twins.

This made me launch a thorough investigation and I found out that they were the children my wife had secretly given birth to ten years ago. My retired parents-in-law had even been at their side at that time.

This was like a bolt from the blue, my fury erupted as I confronted her. “Why?” I demanded.

She responded calmly, “So, Morgan Lawrence can show his respect and fulfill his duty to his elders.”

My eyes burned red with emotion as I looked at her and we argued fiercely.

Friends and elders around us tried to persuade me.

“Isn’t it just children? After all, you two have been married for twenty years and she did not keep this secret from you. This shows how much Sandra still cares about you.”

“You’ve had health issues for years, but Sandra has never abandoned you. After all, since the Wilson Corporation is such a huge enterprise; someone has to inherit it.”

I looked at Sandra Wilson with heartache, but she did not say anything. Despite being in her early forties, she still had a youthful figure and appearance.

“If you never see them again, I won’t ask for a divorce. This is my biggest compromise,” I said.

Sandra Wilson stood up and silently removed her wedding ring. “They are my closest blood relatives. I can’t possibly abandon them. I am their mother.”

She looked at me and without a trace of guilt or hesitation she added, “If you refuse to let this go, then I’ll have to move out for a while.”

My fists clenched tightly. That was the moment I completely gave up, so I said, “Sandra, let’s divorce!”

——

My father stood up slapped me across the face and shouted angrily, “Are you saying you want to divorce Sandra even though she is a good wife? I’ll break your legs!”

My cousin also said in a sharp tone, “Brother, do you know how much Sister-in-law has done for us? It’s just a child. You don’t even have to pay to raise them! How can you be so petty?”

Everyone tried to tell me to forget my intention to divorce her. Meanwhile, Sandra looked gloomy.

After she hesitated for a while, Sandra finally said, “Regan … that’s not what I meant.”

A sharp pain clenched my chest. I lifted my head forced back the bitterness in my heart and said, “Sandra, what you meant doesn’t matter anymore because you’ve already broken our vows.”

Sandra’s expression became even more gloomy, but I could not read her emotions. She said, “Regan, we’re not young anymore. We’ve weathered so many storms together. I thought you would understand me.”

“I was simply fulfilling my promise to Morgan. Nothing more. They are my responsibility, but I don’t love them. Why are you so jealous over something that shouldn’t matter?”

Her tone was light as if she were explaining something inevitable as she gently chastised me for my narrow-mindedness.

However, her words felt like a knife that cut deep into my heart. So, it turned out that my patience and devotion had given her the audacity to disregard our marriage.

I closed my eyes briefly as memories flooded my mind.

Twenty years ago, when I was falsely accused and ostracized in college, Sandra stood up for me and from that moment on, I had fallen for the bold and beautiful Sandra.

I thought we were destined to be parallel lines and we would never cross paths.

However, a year after graduation, her family faced a financial crisis. Her illegitimate half-sister and a scumbag conspired to forge contracts and embezzle company assets.

As the Wilson Corporation teetered on the brink of bankruptcy, I quit my job without hesitation and joined the company.

Sandra and I spent years pleading with investors, swallowing our pride, drinking our way through business meetings just to secure orders.

It took five years to bring Wilson Corporation back to life.

When I finally married Sandra, she said she never wanted children because she had been deeply hurt by her half-sister. I made the decisive choice that I got myself a vasectomy on our wedding day.

A year later, under pressure from both our families, I endured the rumors and presented my medical diagnosis that I had a fertility problem. From then on, tonics and herbal remedies poured endlessly down my throat.

Sandra held me tenderly and her eyes were full of concern as she said, “Regan, let’s us just tell them the truth. This much medicine isn’t good for you …”

I looked at her seriously and asked, “Are you sure you can handle their pressure? Since not wanting children and being unable to have them are two different things. However, as long as you’ve made up your mind, I’ll support you.”

Sandra hesitated.

Back then, I told her that if she ever overcame her fears and wanted a child, I would undergo surgery to reverse the procedure and give us a baby of our own.

She nodded and agreed.

Ten years ago, my in-laws suddenly stopped pressuring us. My mother-in-law no longer rolled her eyes at me or forced me to drink herbal medicine.

They moved abroad to enjoy their retirement and left the entire house to Sandra and me. I thought they had finally come to terms with our decision.

However, it turned out the Wilson Corporation already had an heir, a pair of twins. Only then did I discover that the six years she said she spent “studying abroad” were actually used to give birth.

While suppressing my anguish, I asked, “Sandra, can you even distinguish between responsibility and love? Don’t you think this is cruel to me? Didn’t you make me look like a complete fool? Do you think I’m a fool?”

When Sandra saw how upset I was, a trace of guilt flashed on her face and apologized, “I’m sorry, Regan. I just didn’t want you to suffer through surgery but I also wanted to fulfill my dream of being a mother.”

Then she added, “Can you see that they are not interfering with our life and I can also help Morgan to fulfill his duty toward his parent? If you want to, the children can even respect and honor you as their father in the future.”

When I heard this, I let out a bitter laugh. Then I said mockingly, “So, according to you, although my own wife cheated on me that I should be grateful since she gave me children who would be dutiful to me, right??Otherwise, what? I’d end up a lonely old man?”

Sandra’s face turned red with embarrassment, so when she talked to me, her tone rose defensively, “Regan, why are you talking so harshly to me? What do you mean by cheating? Why are you being so mean to me? What happened between me and Morgan … it only happened once and it was because …”

It was possible she was too ashamed to carry on the conversation, she chased away everyone from the room.

She might be too ashamed to say anything so she pushed everyone out of the room before saying, “Regan, I know you’re angry but try to think this from my perspective. I’m already forty-two and I just didn’t want to have any regrets. If you really love me, you should accept the children. Morgan has raised them well. You don’t have to do anything, so isn’t that a good thing?”

I stared at Sandra, my voice hoarse as I asked, “What if I don’t accept them?”

“Regan, is it so hard for you right now to accept this? Well, that’s okay … I understand. You can have some time to think about this. However, I refuse to stop seeing Morgan and the children.”

“Ah, next week is my father’s seventieth birthday and Morgan will bring the kids. You’ll like them once you meet them.”

With that, she left and closed the door behind her.

I quietly unlocked my phone and opened the files sent by the detective. Thousands of photos and videos documented every moment of Sandra’s pregnancy, the birth of the twins and their lives up until now.

Of course, there was also a share transfer agreement.

In twenty years of marriage, she had spent most of each year abroad for “business studies”. However, in reality, she had been with Morgan and their children.

How ridiculous that I had never once suspected anything.

Seeing the photo of them together as a happy and loving family, stabbed my heart.

Sandra smiled so sweetly and she looked so blissfully happy.

I had given up everything, whether it was my work or ambition, to marry into the Wilson Family. I stood in her shadow and supported her through thick and thin, only to realize that I was a mere passerby in her life.

Heartbroken, I closed my phone and made a call to a friend. “I’m willing to go to the Noroeste to expand the new market there and also, find me the best lawyer because I want a divorce.”

At my father-in-law’s birthday banquet, Morgan arrived in a tailored suit, his well-maintained face exuding charm and elegance.

I wasn’t sure what he said, but my in-laws laughed heartily at his words.

The twins dressed in festive red suits and they looked adorable and lively.

My mother-in-law held their hands, her eyes filled with affection and since she was worried that they might be hungry or thirsty, she had the servants bring out signature pastries from a five-star hotel to serve them personally.

As soon as my mother-in-law’s eyes fell on me, she just grunted her acknowledgment and casually tossed my gift onto the pile of presents. She had never thought highly of me because she always believed I wasn’t good enough for her daughter and I was just a man without ambition.

Morgan gave her a jade bracelet with a flattering smile. My mother-in-law immediately wore it on her wrist in delight and kept praising him over and over again.

“Morgan! You’re so kind. I really like a jade bracelet. They’re good for one’s health.”

Then, she glanced at me and scoffed, “Unlike some people, who look gloomy all the time. That kind of people is bringing bad luck with their gifts.”

At that moment, Sandra noticed the children and she instinctively let go of my arm and rushed over. “Adam, Anna, did you miss Mommy?”

She then knelt and pulled the two children into her embrace as she said this.

Morgan stood by the side while watching them with a gentle smile. He was like a devoted husband. He naturally reached out and kissed Sandra on the cheek.

She patted his chest as if dusting off imaginary specks and asked softly, “Was the flight tiring for you? Was Adam and Anna being good children?”

As if suddenly remembering my presence, her real husband, hurriedly took the little boy by the hand and led him over to me.

Then she introduced him, “Regan, this is Adam. He is the older brother.”

The boy looked almost identical to Morgan. His resemblance with his father was about ninety percent while his ten percent likelihood resembled Sandra, with the same thin lips and big eyes as her.

The little boys gave me a disdainful look and said, “You’re so ugly. You’re not as handsome as my dad at all.”

Then he turned to Sandra and pouted, “Mommy, you promised me a big gift for my tenth birthday. What is it?”

Instead of addressing the boy’s rudeness toward me, Sandra hesitated slightly before saying, “Mommy already has it prepared. However, you must be polite. This is Uncle Regan. Say hello to him quickly.”

The boy lifted his chin arrogantly and said, “I know who you are. You’re that useless guy. You stole my mom away from us. We don’t like you. Get lost!”

Sandra froze the moment she heard that and just when she was about to scold him, Morgan stepped in and said, “Sandra, children don’t always mean what they say. Don’t be too harsh on him. He barely gets to see you so it’s only natural he’s upset.”

Guilt flashed across Sandra’s face. She quickly knelt, stroked the boy’s hair and coaxed him, “Adam, be a good boy. From now on, Mommy can be with you more often.”

The boy nodded and a pleased smile spread across Sandra’s lips and she straightened up and walked away with Morgan. Then, right before they walked out the door, she turned back and waved at me with a cheerful smile as if nothing had happened.

Adam leaned in close in a flash and whispered, “Mommy went to be with Daddy. Daddy says you’re pathetic and a poor man. You don’t even have kids of your own, yet you want to take us away.”

His eyes gleamed with mockery. “This is Mommy’s house. We all hate you. Why are you still here?”

A lump suddenly longed in my throat as an icy numbness settled over me. I stared blankly at the direction of the door. How could she lie so shamelessly to me, was she trying to rip my heart out?

I sat in a stupefied state on the sofa as I watched the two children laughing and playing all over the place.

I reached for my phone, wanting to call Sandra to ask her about it. However, before I could dial the number, Adam snatched it from my hands, threw it onto the floor and instantly shattered the screen.

His face twisted into a nasty look. “You’re not allowed to call her. Mommy is on a date with Daddy.”

“Stop trying to ruin things for them. You’re just a useless freeloader. Mommy only keeps you around out of pity.” After he said that, he made faces at me and stuck his tongue out.

My chest tightened. Even the children saw me as a worthless man. They thought I only lived off their mother, Sandra. No wonder no one blamed Sandra for having another family and child with Morgan.

All of a sudden, Adam Wilson reached out his hand and grabbed my phone and the glass shards cut his and blood began to drip. Meanwhile, Anna Wilson made a phone call.

Sandra and Morgan arrived in no time. Morgan rushed forward and cradled Adam’s injured hand, his voice thick with worry as he asked over and over again.

Adam was sobbing and choking as he accused me, “It was him! He got mad and threw his phone. I was just trying to pick it up and then he called me …? a bastard … and told me to get lost.”

“Dad, I am afraid, I want to go home. Anna clung tightly to Morgan. Her body trembled in terror.

Morgan’s eyes burned with fury as he looked at me. His tone filled with restrained anger as he spat furiously, “Mr. Hamilton, I know I was at fault here. I shouldn’t have fallen in love with Sandra. I left this country for years because I didn’t want to interfere in your marriage. However, Adam is just a child. If you have a problem, take it out on me. Hit me, curse me, I’ll accept it.”

As he said that, his eyes turned red.

A sense of helplessness rose inside of me and I opened my mouth to explain, but before I could Sandra had delivered a hard slap on my face. Smack!?

Sandra’s expression was colder than I had ever seen in my life then she said, “I get that you’re upset, but I never thought you’d take it out on a child.”

Her eyes were so cold when she said the word. They were so sharp that I felt my heart being pierced by a thousand swords.

“Regan, this is the Wilson Family and Adam is the true heir of this Wilson Family. What right do you have to call him a bastard and tell him to leave?”

Before I could explain anything, Sandra had already turned around, picked Adam, cradled him with heartache and left with Morgan and Anna.

A long time passed before I pulled out the divorce papers and placed them neatly on the coffee table. Then, I packed my bags.

However, before leaving, I paused, pulled up the security footage, sent it to Sandra’s phone and blocked her number.

I called my friend. “Luke, I’m ready. Come and pick me up.”
