Having partnered successfully through the Scira ƶijϻ Energy joint venture company on the Sheringham Shoal development, Norway's Statoil and Statkraft are working together again on another UK North Sea wind farm project. This follows the acquisition of Dudgeon ƶijϻ Wind, a subsidiary of Warwick Energy, whose development recently received an offshore consent that allows for up to 560MW of installed generation capacity. Dudgeon is located 32km offshore and 20km northeast of Sheringham Shoal.
The partners now plan to optimise the project, secure the final consents and engage with suppliers and local stakeholders with the aim of bringing the project to final investment decision (FID). Statoil, with a 70% share in Dudgeon, will lead the joint project team.
The 88 turbine, 317MW Sheringham Shoal wind farm, which includes two 900t offshore substations, was officially opened by Crown Prince Haakon of Norway in September.
