RWE farms-in to Suriname

RWE Dea has signed a farm-in agreement with Petronas Suriname E&P BV, acquiring a 40% interest in the Block 52 license off Suriname. Under the farm-in agreement which is subject to completion, RWE Dea will acquire a 40% stake in the 4743sq km license. The block is in the Guyana-Suriname Basin 120km off the northeast coast of South America in 100-1,000m water depths. Petronas Suriname is the operator. The exploration area has potential in Upper Cretaceous strata. The planned work program includes a 3D seismic survey and one exploration well in the next three years.

“Taking up a share in this licence provides early access to a promising geological basin, and further strengthens our position in one of our core regions,” says Thomas Rappuhn, Chief Executive Officer RWE Dea AG.
