Salamander Energy plugged and abandoned its offshore Ayutthaya exploration well prospect in Block G4/50 in the Gulf of Thailand as a dry hole. Ayutthaya is located less than 1 mi. northeast of the recent Surin oil discovery. The well was spud earlier this month, and it was estimated at the time to contain mean prospective recoverable resources of 30MMbo. Although Ayutthaya was dry, the company plans to continue exploration in the area.
Salamander's Energy Information Administration (EIA) application for exploration drilling locations in block G4/50 has yet to be approved.
Salamander has a 27.2% stake in Block L15/43.
