Oslo’s Dolphin Geophysical announced that two high-capacity 3D vessels will be dispatched to shoot a seismic contract in South America as the company “to build solid contract back-log in South America.”
The name of the company awarding the contract was not disclosed; the contract duration in excess of 70 days.
Previously, on 21 March, Dolphin announced a three month South American contract, with surveys to be acquired Q3 and Q4 2014.
The contract will be for three months, with surveys to be acquired 3Q and 4Q 2014.
The 96m-long, 8772ton Sanco Swift (pictured), owned by Sanco Shipping, will start surveying in May. In 3Q or 4Q 2014, the nearly 107m-long, 7689-ton Polar Duke, owned by GC Rieber Shipping, will join Sanco Swift.
Both vessels are less than five years old, with Sanco Swift built in 2013 and Polar Duke built in 2010. The two vessels feature some of the same seismic source equipment: a Bolt Long-Life air gun up to 10,000cu in. at 2000psi and a Seamap Gunlink 4000 gun control system. The vessels’ seismic streamer types differ: Polar Duke has a Sercel SSAS Sentinel, while Sanco Swift features the updated Sercel Sentinel RD, which requires smaller winches.
Dolphin’s first 3D multi-client survey off Brazil started 13 Nov 2013 with Sanco Swift, covering 5000km sq of Campos basin presalt plays.
