Maersk Drilling’s Convincer jackup rig received an additional one-year extension from Petronas Carigali, E&P subsidiary of Malaysia’s national oil company.
The US$56 million contract is expected to end mid-November 2015.
“Together with Petronas Carigali, our highly competent rig crew has delivered several challenging wells in a safe and efficient way,” says Claus V. Hemmingsen, CEO of Maersk Drilling and member of the executive board of the Maersk Group.
Maersk Convincer is one of two Baker Marine 375ft jackup rigs in Maersk’s fleet. The rig was delivered from the Jurong Shipyard in 2008 and has been working in Southeast Asia since then. The jackup has been under contract with Petronas Carigali since 2011.
The rig’s contract was extended last year in July under a $54million contract for Petronas Carigali.
