Maersk Oil spudded the Xana (Gita South) exploration well in license 9/95 on the Danish continental shelf, according to partner Norwegian Energy Company ASA (Noreco).
The well is being drilled by the Noble Sam Turner jackup. The main target is upper Jurassic sandstones, about 4600m below the seabed. The JV estimates the target depth will take an estimated 140 days.
Noreco says that the Xana well has 27% chance of success with the prospect containing between 130 and 235MMboe. Noreco says this would correspond to approximately 35MMboe net P50 to the company.
Maersk Oil is the operator for license with a 42.6% interest with partners Noreco Danish subsidiary Noreco Oil Denmark A/S (20.1%), DONG E&P 27.3% and Danoil Exploration (10%).
