Romgaz to drop Black Sea block

Romanian gas producer Romgaz and its partners are to drop their EX29 Est Rapsodia Block in the Black Sea, offshore Romania, following exploration results.

Romgaz, with partners Lukoil Overseas Atash and PanAtlantic Petroleum, had signed two concession agreements, through which they acquired rights and obligations to exercise petroleum operations in two blocks in the Black Sea, EX29 Est Rapsodia and Ex30 Trident.

Following the agreed assessment of the block, the data and information obtained did not give the partners the incentive to continue exploration on the block.

Romgaz continues to explore the Trident Block, where it said in October last year that exploration led to a 30 Bcm discovery of natural gas.
