Seajacks' latest newbuild self-propelled wind farm installation jackup unit Seajacks Scylla is to be mobilized at Gibdock in Gibralter.
The unit was delievered to Seajacks by Samsung Heavy Industries at the end of 2015, and discharged to Gibraltar waters from the heavylift transporter Osprey before being towed into Gibdock for reactivation works at the yard’s South Mole.
Scylla joins Seajacks existing fleet, comprising the Kraken, Leviathan, Hydra and Zaratan. Scylla will start its first contract on the Veja Mate offshore windfarm in March, off the coast of Germany.
Sailing at speeds of 12 knots or over, Scylla is outfitted with 105m-long legs which give the ability to install components in water depths in excess of 65m (North Sea conditions). Scylla is equipped with a Huisman 1500-tonne leg-encircling crane and has useable deck space of up to 5000sq m and 8800-tonne of available variable load.
