Quadrant Energy’s Driftwood-1 commitment well intersected water wet objectives offshore Western Australia.

Driftwood-1, is in the WA-320-P permit, in the Barrow sub-basin of the Northern Carnarvon basin, some 1km north of Rosily-1A exploration well, which also had minor oil shows.
The well was spudded on 1 August with the Noble Tom Prosser jackup drilling rig in 100.8m water depth, and was drilled to a final total depth of 2111m on 12 August.
The well objective was to test the Early Cretaceous sandstones of the Mardie Greensand Member, Birdrong Member and Zeepaard Formation in a low-relief, northeast-southwest trending four-way dip closure. Although the well intersected all of the drilling objectives, all were water wet. There were no hydrocarbon shows intersected in the primary and secondary targets, elevated gas readings were noted from 2055m measured depth to total depth of the well, partner Tap Oil confirmed.
Quadrant has begun recovering the 30in surface conductor and to will release the rig on 16 August.
Quadrant is the operator of WA-320-P with a 40.665% interest. Partners include Tap Oil (9.778%), OMV (39.557%), and JX Nippon Oil & Gas (10%).
