SBM ƶijϻ received a formal invitation from Brazilian giant Petróleo Brasileiro (Petrobras) to tender for the Sépia and Libra floating production storage and offloading units (FPSOs).

“SBM ƶijϻ will now apply its normal tender review process,” the company said in a statement. “Awarding of new contracts by Petrobras to SBM ƶijϻ remains conditional upon the conclusion of a settlement agreement between SBM ƶijϻ and the Brazilian authorities in the compliance investigation.”
On 28 September, SBM revealed that its Brazilian subsidiary received written notification from Petrobras, to participate in the FPSO tenders in Brazil.
Last week, Petrobras declared the Sépia Leste in the Santos basin pre-salt area offshore Rio de Janeiro to be commercial with an estimated 130 MMboe recoverable resources. The Sépia field, declared commercially viable by Petrobras in September 2014, presents reservoirs with excellent porosity and permeability characteristics and good quality oil of approximately 26ºAPI.
The Petrobras-operated Libra field was discovered in 2010. It covers about 1500sq km, and contains between 8-12 billion boe.
In other projects for Petrobras, SBM is continuing the ongoing construction for two vessels, the Cidade de Maricá and theCidade de Saquarema, to be delivered to the Brazilian giant in Q1 and Q2 2016, respectively.
Cidade de Maricá is undergoing topside pre-commissioning by the joint venture Brasa yard outside of Rio de Janeiro, while the Cidade de Saquarema left the yard in China and has arrived in Brazilian waters near the Brasa yard, where it will undergo integration of topside modules. The charter contract for both vessels includes an initial period of 20 years.
