Aqualis ƶijϻ and China Ship Design & Research Center Co. (CSDC) have signed an agreement to cooperate on engineering projects both in China and internationally.

CSDC specializes in shipbuilding and offshore engineering services. It is a subsidiary company of China Shipbuilding Industry Corp. (CSIC), the biggest shipbuilding group in China and a market leader for China’s offshore sector.

Aqualis ƶijϻ is a specialized offshore marine and engineering consultancy firm, focusing on the shallow and deepwater offshore segments of the oil and gas industry. It is part of Oslo-listed Aqualis.

Under the agreement, Aqualis ƶijϻ and CSDC will cooperate in the fields of engineering, project management, research, innovation and marketing. A key objective is to develop a joint engineering service to offshore newbuild projects in China and elsewhere.

Aqualis ƶijϻ and CSDC aim to provide a joint engineering service to all offshore projects, including jackups, tension leg platforms, spars, semisubmersibles and FPSOs. They will also provide front end engineering and design services, including conceptual design, basic design and national research projects, plus detailed design engineering service for transportation and offshore installation of fixed platforms, floating structures and subsea facilities.

“We are very pleased with the ability to expand our horizon in the international market through close cooperation with Aqualis ƶijϻ and its international office network,” says Li Zhonggang, vice president at CSDC.

CDCS’ parent company, CSIC group, is the market leader for China’s offshore engineering sector. The group has considerable experience in designing and building production platforms, rigs, modules and FPSOs for both domestic and overseas clients.

“CSDC has a clear advantage that it can provide engineering services to CSIC’s yards in China. We will ensure that we will provide CSDC with competitive offshore engineering competence and capacity whenever it is required,” says Peng Yongfei, Aqualis ƶijϻ’s country manager in China.
